Peradventure the best book I read all year, specifically considering it gave me a million ideas for stuff I desire to do at my kids schoolhouse. So, if your a parent of a student in a schoolhouse where you'd similar to meet more parent involvement, this is an crawly book. Or if your a teacher in one of those schools.
Otherwise, it might non exist that interesting.

Having been at two different school's during my children'southward school years thus far, this book was extremely helpful in recognizing the different cultures at our schools and how to become well-nigh making changes so that parents tin become more involved. At our kickoff schoolhouse parents were almost too involved all the same at the new 1 parents are not e'er openly welcomed to the school....but things are irresolute and this book helped me learn that it is a process and that there tin can be a happy medium! Having been at two different school's during my children's school years thus far, this book was extremely helpful in recognizing the different cultures at our schools and how to go about making changes so that parents can get more involved. I borrowed this book from the library. I think if I were a school ambassador I would want to own a copy. PTA/PTO kind of groups might besides like it. It contains a lot of suggestions for making schools more open and welcoming to families, as well every bit questionnaires, and observation protocols etc, for gauging how open up your school is and maybe even deciding how open you desire information technology to be.

It too includes example ideas from other schools and anecdotal reviews which is helpful when creating a school-customs relations improvement programme.

This book was easy to read, with many existent-life examples and concrete examples of things like surveys, checklists, etc. At this point some things are outdated (like the many references to NCLB), but a lot of information technology is notwithstanding relevant.

If y'all are in the schools in any way shape or form, you should read this.
Not all of the ideas are applicable, specially in this day and age where schools now protect children from outside forces - community every bit collateral damage. Also, the authors seem to not gasp how much of a "business" world education has go. People from the community are not going to be able to walk into a school and use the copiers. That's not feasible. Just I love this volume and the premise - information technology puts words to my feelings If you are in the schools in any way shape or course, you should read this.
Not all of the ideas are applicable, particularly in this day and age where schools at present protect children from exterior forces - customs as collateral damage. Too, the authors seem to not gasp how much of a "business" earth education has become. People from the community are non going to be able to walk into a school and use the copiers.
